I own the Registered version of JASC Paint Shop Pro 4.12, so this is the only version I have tried. (There were many upgrades to this software before it was acquired by Corel.)It will not install in the Windows 10 64-bit environment. I tried everything, but the software was designed for 32-bit systems. (Win10 wouldn't let me run setup or autorun)Surprise! It will run and function perfectly well directly off of the CD-Rom.

Insert the disc and select to view the contents. Then find and Click on the executable PSP.exe.Hope this helps someone else. I'm a happy camper now! I like PSP 3.12-32, and have been disappointed when I could not install it on a 64 bit computer. After reading JWMuse’s post, I got an idea.

When I originally installed PSP it was placed in C:PSP directory.I copied the PSP directory as is to a USB Flash Drive, took it over to the 64 bit computer and copied it to the Desktop. Then opened it, double clicked PSP.EXE file and I got Paint Shop Pro up and running. So far it seems to be running just like it does on my 32 bit machine.Perhaps, this might work with PSP 4.12.

I wonder if some other 32 bit software that wouldn’t install on a 64 bit computer, might run this way. I hope this is useful to some. Seems like something gets messed up when you select tools (like 'Shapes') and PSP saves the setting to registry. The best solutions seems to be to first import this.reg file, and then write-protect the 'ToolBarState-Bar' keys. You could make a batch-file to import this file each time you start PSP, but that won't catch 'SendTo' and 'Edit'. I'd been running PSP 4.12 by simply copying a folder with the required files to the desktop in Win 10. This has always worked perfectly, but after a recent Windows re-install I can no longer get graphic file types (.gif,.jpg,.png.) to associate with my beloved graphics program.

PSP is not offered as an option to associate with these files and I cannot find any method to pick a program not on the list.I added the registry file offered below by LarsErikOsterud, which 'took', but does not add PSP to the list of 'official' graphics programs. Without the ability to click on a graphic file and have it open in PSP, my file editing workflow is slow and clunky.
